Graphic Identity for an Original Food Truck Concept

PROJECT BRIEF:
Create a graphic identity for an original food truck business.

Secondly you will design a logo for your original concept. You can can create a logotype (manipulated typography) or a combination logogram (symbol) and logotype. CONSIDER YOUR CHOICE OF TYPEFACE CAREFULLY! Further on down the line in your design process you may need to create variations of your original logo design to accommodate your packaging concepts.

You will need to develop a color palette for your graphic identity and provide the CMYK recipes for those colors.

DELIVERABLES:
Logo(s)
Color Palette
Exterior Food Truck Design - side and back (This does not necessarily mean placing your logo smack dab in the middle of the side or back. There are many solutions to this problem. Additionally, you may want to consider what the truck will look like when the window is open.)
Menu Design - Single page that could also be displayed on a "sandwich board".
Package designs - minimum of 2 (for example: bag, cup, wrapper, box, etc.)
Business Card - Containing name and URL

PRESENTATION:
Please arrange your designs on several 11x17 pages.  Please consider the design and composition of these layouts carefully.  Imagine your are going to present your concept to a client. You may use "mock-ups" in your layout but it is important that your design is displayed exactly as you want it and you are not letting the "mock-up" dictate the location of your design elements. You do not have to use a "mock-up" for your food truck design. You can create a simple illustration of a food truck side and back that shows your concept maybe even better than a "mock-up" can. Please follow this link to see a nice Food Truck presentation. https://www.behance.net/gallery/41114955/Frutopia-foodtruck-rebranding

IMPORTANT DATES:

FINAL FORMAL PRESENTATION WEDNESDAY APRIL 24TH - You will present your project at the lectern. You should prepare what you are going to say about your design concept. All of your layouts should be posted to your blog at this time.

ALL PROJECTS AND REVISIONS UPLOADED TO YOUR BLOG AND YOUR SHARED GOOGLE DRIVE FOLDER BY MIDNIGHT FRIDAY MAY 3RD.

Museum Identity - Name

MUSEUM IDENTITY

Graphic Identity for NEW Gulf Coast Contemporary Art Museum
The inclusion of a contemporary art museum in the gulf coast region is intended to attract international business and investment in the area. In order to do so the museum is seeking a cutting edge graphic identity for a museum that exhibits contemporary works of relevant and significant art.
For example some of the artists to exhibit in the new space will be Nick Cave (NOT THE MUSICIAN), Swoon, Takashi Murakami, Fischli and Weiss, Chris Burden, Nancy Rubins, Mary Reid Kelley, Jessica Stockholder, Jeff Koons, Tony Oursler, Marvin Gaye Chetwynd, Jennifer Steinkamp, Diana Thater, Ai Weiwei, Stan Douglas, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Laurie Simmons, Damian Ortega, Eddie Martinez, Kerry James Marshall, Thomas Hirschhorn, Theaster Gates and Andrea Zittel.
It is important that the identity carry with it the stature and relevance of a contemporary museum, linking its work to the canon of art, with all of the cultural import that implies (a direct relationship between contemporary artists and the history of art).

Link to Google Drive Folder with an example from Spring 2016:
Palafox Institute of Contemporary Art

1. You will work on creating the name of your museum.
The name of the museum must have either the word Art or Design, must include the name of a place in the Gulf Coast, and at least one other word. The name of your museum can NOT already exist.
For example:
Pace Art Space
or
Fort Walton Museum of Contemporary Art
or
Destin Design Center

Due: Monday March 4th I would like you to come up with 3 different names for your museum and I would like you to present them each with a list of 10 different typefaces.  Place each name with the 10 different typefaces on a separate 8.5 x 11 in. document. You should be selective in your typeface choices. (DO NOT USE NOVELTY TYPEFACES sometimes referred to as FANCY FACES! ie. Papyrus, Comic Sans, Marker Felt, Herculanum, Desdemona etc.) It is OK if typefaces are repeated from one name to the next. I would like you to present them to the class as a group. We will have a group critique determining which name has the most advantages. Everybody must have this posted to there blog. Additionally, everybody  must research one of the contemporary artists listed above and post three images of their work to their blog and briefly present your findings about the artist with the class.

PHASE 2 - LOGO REFINEMENT, & MOCKUP IMPLEMENTATION

PHASE 2 - Logo refinement, & Photoshop "Mockups" from free download.

1. Logo Refinement
Choose the logo you would like to refine based on comments in class critique. Create 3 versions of that refined logo.  All appropriate text must be included in this phase.

2. Create an Illustrator document that includes your best logo for your business/ organization. Imagine you are presenting this to a client.  What is the best way to get your concept across?

3. Find 3 SUITABLE free mockups/templates (you can do more than three) online and place your new logo in it. Although I have provided a few links to both free mockups and tutorials I encourage you to do your own exploration.  This is great practice for when you enter the workforce where you will more than likely be left to your own devices to learn a new skill or technique.

PROJECT 1 - LOGO REDESIGN PHASE 1

NHRR logo development from Herbert Matter on Vimeo.

PROJECT BRIEF:
COMPLETE Redesign of the logo for one of these three Pensacola places:

1. "Palafox Market Downtown Pensacola"- farmers market in downtown Pensacola

2. "al Fresco Pensacola" - permanent foodtruck court in downtown Pensacola

3. "Pensacola Pop Comics" - Comic book store in downtown Pensacola

KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL REDESIGN. A RECONCEPTUALIZATION. I DO NOT WANT YOU TO MERELY TWEEK THE EXISTING LOGO. IT SHOULD LOOK COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. NOTE TO THOSE WHO CHOOSE POP COMICS. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANY TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT. SO I DO NOT WANT TO SEE AN EXISTING COMIC BOOK CHARACTER IN YOUR LOGO.

YOUR FINAL LOGO MUST INCLUDE ALL OF THE TEXT THAT YOU SEE IN THE QUOTES ABOVE BUT FOR PHASE 1 YOU ONLY NEED TO INCLUDE THE MAIN NAME WHICH IS IN BOLD.

You have 3 in class periods to work on your preliminary logos.
PHASE 1 should be posted to your blog by Wednesday January 23rd.
10 preliminary logos created in Illustrator
They should look vastly different from one another. Not just simple color or font changes.
Place 5 each on (2) 8.5 x 11 artboards.
Number your logos to make them easier to talk about in critique.
We will have a group critique on WEDNESDAY JANUARY 23RD.
