Museum Identity - Logotype - Overall Project Schedule

You will create a logotype / logogram for your museum. A logotype is a logo or brand identity that is mainly composed of typography. A logogram is a symbol that represents your museum.

LOGOTYPE EXAMPLES:

You will create a logotype/logogram for your museum.
You will create a combination logomark that includes the logotype and logogram with the full museum name.





You will create a set of rules for the representation of the logotype.
You will create a set of rules for the representation of the full museum name.
You will create a set of rules for the interaction of the logotype and full museum name.


This set of rules will go into the Graphic Identity "Style Guide" that you will eventually create (the style guide is not due on October 17th, overall due dates can be found below).

DUE: Wednesday March 20th: You will create 3 preliminary logotypes for the decided upon museum name. Each logotype should have a version without the full museum name (just initials) and with it. I will meet with you individually on the 20th to discuss your work. Please upload your preliminary logo's to your blog.

Finalized logo DUE Wednesday March 27th. I will meet with you individually. Your finalized logo should be accompanied by a working color palette. After your logo has been refined you will continue to develop the rest of your Graphic deliverables that will contain your museum identity.

Those deliverables consist of:

PRINT BASICS
-Admission Ticket
-Letterhead, Envelope and Business Card for 1 department (Exhibitions, Education, Research etc.)

SPECIAL EXHIBITION IDENTITY (you choose the artist and imagery.  Photo must NOT appear pixelated!!!!!!!!!) Choose the artist for your exhibition from the initial list of artists I gave you.
-Poster advertising the show (find a good quality image of their work do not use a photo of the artist.)
-Title wall for the exhibition

SIGNAGE AND WAYFINDING based on your graphic identity:
You will need to create icons based on your identity design for:
-cafe or restaurant
-shop or store
-restrooms

You will need to use those icons in signage to direct patrons around the museum.

MERCHANDISE:
-Tote bag or T-shirt 

CRITIQUE/MEETING SCHEDULE BREAK DOWN:
Wednesday March 20th - Preliminary Logotypes Due (black and white) - Individual critiques with me. Please post your preliminary logos to your blog.

Wednesday March 27th - Finalized Logomark (logotype & full name) due with chosen color palette. Individual critiques with me. Please post your finalized Logomark to your blog.

Wednesday April 10th - Final presentation of all materials to class. You will stand at the lectern and present your project to the class.

The computer lab is always available to you during our regularly scheduled class time.
